Welcome to our Couch to 5K Program – your gateway to discovering the joys of running and achieving a significant milestone: completing a 5-kilometer race. Whether you're an absolute beginner or someone looking to get back into running after a hiatus, this program is designed to guide you step by step towards your goal safely and enjoyably.

About the Program:

Our Couch to 5K program is tailored for individuals with little to no running experience. We understand that taking the first steps towards fitness can be daunting, which is why I've created a structured and supportive program to help you build endurance, improve your fitness level, and ultimately cross that finish line with confidence.

The program, in partnership with the Tralee Sports Complex, is more than just a running plan. It's a holistic approach to fitness that combines running sessions with strength training to ensure you're not only building endurance but also strengthening your body for optimal performance.

What to Expect:

With our program, you'll participate in two weekly sessions:

  • Running Session: Lace up your shoes and hit the pavement with our expert coaches. We'll guide you through progressive running intervals, helping you build stamina and confidence with each stride.

​

  • Strength Training Session: In addition to running, we'll introduce you to a 45-60 minute bodyweight workout focused on toning and strengthening key muscle groups essential for running. These exercises will complement your running routine and help prevent injuries.

​

Plus, you'll have one designated exercise day outside of class to engage in any physical activity of your choice, keeping you active and accountable throughout the week.

Embrace the Social Side:

Joining our program means becoming part of a supportive community dedicated to your success. Here's how we foster social connections:

  • Group Chat: Connect with fellow participants in our group chat, where you can share progress, exchange tips, and motivate each other on your journey.

​

  • Competition: Get ready for some friendly competition! Throughout the program, we'll track consistency in attendance, exercise participation, and personal sessions. The most dedicated participant will win a one-month pool and/or gym membership.

​

  • Post-Run Celebration: After completing the 5K run, join us for a post-run celebration with tea, coffee, sandwiches, and plenty of smiles. It's a chance to celebrate your achievements and connect with your fellow runners.
